P6/7 enjoyed a very enjoyable and informative session today with Fiona Payne, from the UK Parliament. She told the children about the history of the Palace of Westminster, the NI Assembly, its roles and responsibilities and the job of The Speaker of House of Commons. The children enjoyed activities exploring what it means to live in a democracy, skills and qualities needed to become a MP and the difference in a law and a bill. She also challenged the children to think about being a good citizen and how to contribute positively to their community.
