P6 World Water Day

20th Mar 2025

P6 spent their latest day of Shared Education talking about water and how we can conserve it and keep it clean. Since they last met, both classes have had a visit from Steven, who told them all about the lifecycle of salmon and left them some eggs to look after.  They watched them hatch out and develop into fry, and they have now been taken to the Bushmills fishery, where they will grow into smolts.

Today we spent some time thinking about how we look after the oceans, rivers and waterways where the salmon live.  Saturday 22nd March is World Water Day so we talked about how important it is to reduce pollution and stop global warming which is affecting the growth of blue green algae in our lakes and melting the glaciers in our polar regions.  After our discussions we used Adobe Express to create some posters and finally we revised our lifecycles, ready for our summer outing. We had a lovely day, made all the better by the sunshine which made it feel like spring is here at last.
