Did you know that only the wealthiest Vikings could afford a metal helmet? Most fighters wore head coverings made from leather or padding. With this in mind we decided to finish off our topic with an investigation into different materials and how protective they might be. We used a variety of waste materials to try to protect our little Eggheads. However only 3 survived and even then it was mostly due to the number of layers rather than the material. It may not have been the most scientific test but it was great fun.
