Cold snap

19th Jan 2025
P5&6 have enjoyed getting outside this week after the icy playground and minus temperatures of week one. However, it did give them a good way to start their new topic by checking the thermometer to see how low it might go and measuring the thickness of the ice. We had minus temperatures and our ice blocks stuck to the table.  One of our favourite poems is about the problems of having a snowball as a pet and they investigated if making it clothes would make it disappear more quickly or slowly.  We had no snow so we used blocks of ice and wrapped them in different materials. Some thought having a coat would warm it up but we discovered the thicker the coat, the longer it lasted. Can you guess why? Now we have our heads in the clouds to see how they might help us predict the weather.
