P1&2 have been very busy designing circus tents on the iPads and looking at the shapes and patterns that they can see in them. We carried out an experiment to find the best material to cover our circus tent frame. We put a circus animal in the tent, covered it with different materials and then watched what happened when it rained!
We found that the cotton and hessian let the rain through and then watched what tissue paper and newspaper soaked up the water and then fell into a hole. Tinfoil and plastic let the water run off but we thought that tinfoil would tear easily so we decided that plastic would be the best covering.
When our tent was sorted we started to explore some of the different acts at the circus. We had lots of fun pretending that we were acrobats on the apparatus in the assembly hall.
